What are Previcox Tablets?

Previcox contains the drug Firocoxib. Firocoxib is a prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation.

Why do dogs use Previcox?

Previcox is prescribed for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis or surgery.

What else should I know about Previcox?

Easy-to-give chewable tablet. Store Previcox out of the reach of children and animals. Your veterinarian may ask to schedule follow-up blood tests or exams to check for liver and kidney side effects. These follow-ups are very important.

What problems could my dog have with Previcox?

Previcox may be associated with kidney, stomach, or liver toxicity. Contact your veterinarian if you notice signs such as eating less than normal, vomiting, changes in bowel movements, changes in behaviour or activity levels, incoordination, seizures, aggression, jaundice, changes in drinking, changes in urination. The use of Previcox is cautioned in dehydrated dogs, dogs on diuretic therapy, dogs with existing kidney, hepatic, or heart dysfunction.

How do you use Previcox?

Previcox should not be combined with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids. Previcox should ideally be given with food. Follow your veterinarian's directions.

The drug in Previcox is Firocoxib. Firocoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is a COX-2 inhibitor. COX-2 inhibitors reduce the amount of cyclooxygenase-2, an enzyme responsible in part for pain and inflammation.
