What is Keppra?

Epilepsy causes seizures in dogs and cats that can be difficult to control. In many cases, a single medication is not enough to control the condition. Keppra is a prescription anticonvulsant drug that is used with other medications to control seizures caused by epilepsy.

Why do cats and dogs use Keppra?

Keppra works in combination with phenobarbital and bromides to help treat epilepsy and give your pet a better quality of life. Keppra is also prescribed to control seizures associated with hepatic encephalopathy.

What else should I know about Keppra?

These Keppra tablets are NOT extended release. They are immediate release or regular tablets. Helps control seizures due to epilepsy and hepatic encephalopathy. May be combined with other seizure medications.

What problems could my dog or cat have with Keppra?

Tiredness and lack of appetite are the most common side effects of Keppra.

How do you use Keppra?

Keppra may be given with or without food. Follow your veterinarian's instructions. These tablets are immediate release, NOT extended release, and you may need to give multiple doses per day.
